Deed of land in Stockbridge from the Indian Proprietors of Stockbridge to John Sergeant

A deed granting land in Stockbridge to John Sergeant, signed by Joseph Shauquithquaut and Jehoiakim Mhtocksin, appointed representatives of the "Indian Proprietors of Stockbridge." The deed notes that the land was formerly assigned to Timothy Woodbridge in 1762, and remitted by him to John Sergeant in 1771. The name of Jehoiakim Mhtocksin is also spelled Jehoiakim Mtohksin within the document; also spelled Metoxon and Metoxen in other historical records.
