Charles White Whittlesey (1884-1921) Collection, 1905-1948; Three pairs of wool puttees (see also "putties" or "leggings"), one olive drab, the other two dark khaki, with woven cotton extensions to fasten. Worn by Major Charles W. Whittlesey, 77th division, 308th infantry in the United States Army in World War I, ca. 1918.
