Charles White Whittlesey (1884-1921) Collection, 1905-1948; Olive drab wool coat, U.S.R. and 308 infantry bar pins at collar, metal buttons, orange chevron and Statue of Liberty on left sleeve, breast pockets, tan trim. Worn in the 'Pocket' (Argonne, Battle of) by Major Charles W. Whittlesey, 77th division, 308th infantry in the United States Army in World War I, Aug.-Oct. 1918.
