Financialization in Crisis

In this project, I analyze some of the foremost methods, mechanisms, and institutions that facilitate and perpetuate the financialization of the modern political economy. I divide my analysis between examining fundamental changes in the structure and systemic imperatives of financial markets, and a more direct political inquiry into how financialization impacts state sovereignty during times of economic crises. Both arguments are framed in the context of the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis.
